The Body Listens was a community art project commissioned by ENBS (Engage with Nature Based Solutions to Climate Change) in 2025.  The project focused on listening and mending as acts of ecological solidarity and collective healing, and included a community installation, performance, artist talk, nature walk, and online tool kit. Sixty community members participated in the  project by individually stitching hand-dyed listening bands in response to their unique experiences of listening to the sounds of nature. The listening bands became part of an outdoor textile installation consisting of three large garments installed between ancient trees in Miqən (Beacon Hill Park) on unceded Lək̓ʷəŋən Territories (Victoria, BC) on July 12, 2025. The community installation began at 11am with opening remarks and a performance of Ear to the Ground by the artist, and remained open to the public until 4pm. The following day (July 13th), J B Williams, an ethnobotanist of Tsawout and Ahousat descent, gave a nature walk and talk to share traditional knowledge of native plants through storytelling.
